When to Schedule Your Irrigation Winterization

Irrigation can be a great way to keep your yard lush and green during the spring and summer months, but your irrigation system can quickly cause issues for your yard if it isn’t cared for properly for the winter months. To avoid frozen parts, burst pipes, or otherwise, you will need to have your irrigation winterized. You can rely on us at Laurdane Associates for that. But when should you schedule your irrigation winterization?

When to Schedule Your Irrigation Winterization

The main point of an irrigation winterization is to prepare your irrigation system for the cold winter temperatures. Having water freezing in your pipes or freezing different parts together can be harmful for both your system and your yard. So, it’s important to schedule our winterization services before the first freeze, so your pipes are properly prepared. This usually puts the scheduled services sometime around the middle of fall, unless it’s a particularly early winter.

That said, it’s important to not schedule your winterization too early. If we are still experiencing summer-like temperatures, but your irrigation system is already winterized and therefore shut off, your yard will suffer the consequences and begin to dry out.

Scheduling your irrigation winterization is a little bit of a guessing game, but it doesn’t have to be. We have years of experience with our irrigation winterization services, so you can trust us to perform the job well. Give us a call if you would like some help deciding on the best time to schedule our services.
